In talking with a number of you about a holiday menu, it was suggested that I not focus on a main course menu because most of us have a family tradition passed on from a grandparent or mother…the traditional ham, turkey or beef roast. Instead, folks are looking for some new ideas for appetizer, side dishes and desserts. So lets do that. For starters, how about a Ginger Cranberry Cheese Ball and Wing It Dip both of which can be made one to two days before and served with crackers, chips or veggies. Side dishes include Corn and Zucchini Salad, Roasted Broccoli and Melting Potatoes. The broccoli and potatoes can be done simultaneously if you are lucky enough to have two ovens or one large enough to hold the meat and the side dish, but they can also be done ahead of time and warmed in the oven while the meat is resting before carving. Lastly, for dessert there are choices of Coconut Cream Pie Cake or Mama’s Date Pudding…both of which can be made the day or two before dinner day. Join me in my kitchen on November 8 for an afternoon of learning and cooking. We’ll then sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor (with maybe a little salmon added to round out the meal). 8 seats at the table and only 3 left so hurry on down.
